Forward Collision Warning System

Hughes Research Laboratory in Malibu, California was the place where the first ever Forward Collision Warning System was demonstrated in 1995. The very first vehicle to have this safety feature was Volvo V40 and soon after that, the Cadillac STS became the second vehicle to have the safety feature.

Lane Departure Warning and Prevention

First introduced by Nissan Motors in 2001, the Lane Departure Warning and Prevention is now becoming an integral part of safety systems offered by many brands. Of course, many brands have updated and improved this car safety technology, in fact, it is often the standard safety feature in modern cars.

Lane Departure Warning and Prevention will warn the driver if the vehicle is moving out of its lane. It uses sensors to detect any unwanted lane departure, these sensors include infrared sensors, laser sensors and video sensors.

There are three types of lane Departure Warning and Prevention systems. These types are:

  • Lane Departure Warning or LDW: This is the system that will give visual, audio or vibration warning if the vehicle is moving out of its lane.
  • Lane Keeping System or LKS: The is the system that will give the driver a warning and let him take an action, if he does not, the system will then take actions to keep the car in lane.
  • Proactive and Reactive: This system is fully autonomous and will take any necessary action to maintain the lane.

Blind Spot Detection

Bling Sport Detection is also known a Blind Spot Monitoring System. It is a car safety technology that will detect any car that is approaching the vehicle from its blind spot. This system will determine the speed of the approaching vehicle and its distance and give a warning accordingly.
